Like Sands Through The Hourglass, So Are The Albums Of Our Lives
A Plethora of Pop Writing Challenge
How can a writer not have the discipline to write?
Welcome to my world! I love to write, but I don’t give myself enough time to do so. That's why I’m responding to this particular music challenge late, as it was introduced on April 4.
Having ADHD and OCD disorders doesn’t help matters.
Squirrel!
But let’s not get into my mental state. We’re here for the music!
Buddy Gott began this writing challenge: Pick what you think is a perfect album in every decade of your life.
“OK,” I thought. “This sounds like fun.” But it was harder than I thought. Away we go.
1950s
I am not selecting an album for this decade. I was born in 1957. No one in my house was listening to rock and roll, and I certainly wasn’t buying albums. Skip.
1960s
I am certain that I did not buy any albums in this decade because of my age and the fact that they cost so much (as much as $5.99). I only had enough money for singles. They were only 64 cents at Kmart (67 cents with tax). The first single I bought was “Bang Bang” by Cher. Gay was written all over me.
