My Favorite Songs of 2022: A Music Prompt

Believe it or not, I didn’t buy one album in 2022. In fact, I didn’t even listen to one album in 2022. So just give me the hits.

I’m old school. I only buy and listen to music on iTunes. And it’s getting expensive! Spotify? Another subscription to pay for? Another app to learn? I don’t think so. Not now, anyway.

Radio continues to be where I hear the bulk of my new music. I know, I know. But some stations do music better than others, and I expressly point to WXRT in Chicago, “Chicago’s Home for Music Lovers.” They play old and new rock and have trended towards alternative in the past few years, my favorite genre. In addition, I pick up on some new music on mainstream TV and YouTube.

I only purchased seven songs that were released in 2022. I bought many others from previous years. While they add up to only twenty, I still have more than 3,000 songs in my library. That’s enough to last a while on a desert island.
