… holidays (even the big ones) no longer move me, except when I recall the raucous Christmas Eves at my parents’ house in Skokie, Illinois, where I grew up.

You grew up in Skokie? We lived there as a family for many years. My ex-wife went to Niles North! Even though it was a close in suburb, I was so happy when we got a divorce and I moved to the city.
